If we continue further east, near the mountainous area of Kosovo and Macedonia we can notice a site of exceptional biodiversity.
Northern Albania can be considered as one of the wildest areas of the country because of the high mountains, dense forests and rivers. This mountainous region is from 1500 m to 2600 m above the sea level, from Shkodra to Valbona, a valley which is the major attraction of the Alps.
In the heart of the Albanian Alps, on a surface of over 2400 hectares in the Shala Valley, lies Thethi National Park. This is still an uncrowded area, ideal for backpackers and lovers of nature.
This regions are considered as typical Albanian ones with stone and wood houses.
